Orono Police Reserves - The Orono Police Department Reserve Officer Program is a volunteer opportunity for community members interested in assisting the Police Department. New Reserve officers attend 10 evening sessions sponsored by the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, and receive additional field training through the department.

Our Reserves are dedicated to the community and are an indispensable component of the Police Department. Our Reserves assist in:
Traffic control
Patrol Assistance
Special Events
Vacation Home Checks
— Police Ride-Alongs

Police Chaplains - Police Chaplains assist the Orono Police Department and the community in providing support during crisis situations such as family emergencies, death notifications, major critical incidents and traffic accidents. Read more about the Police Chaplains.

Unique Opportunities to Serve - Our web site was designed and built by a community volunteer.

Internships - The Police Department has offered unpaid internship positions for people considering a career in law enforcement who are currently enrolled in post secondary educational programs. We are not currently soliciting internship applications, but may consider your thoughtful proposal. Write us at P. O. Box 86, Crystal Bay, MN, 55323, Attention: Chief Good.

Youth Diversion - Northern Star Juvenile Diversion trains volunteers to work with youth in our service area who have come to the attention of law enforcement and qualify for youth diversion in lieu of a court appearance. Volunteers must have an understanding of issues faced by young people today and skills that are effective in helping them. Call 763-231-7243 to see how you can help.
