The Orono Police Department serves the City of Orono and provides service through contracts with Long Lake, Minnetonka Beach and Spring Park. Each city has its own official ordinances. For questions about rules and regulations, see the Regulations section of this site or contact:

The total population of the area served by the OPD is about 12,000 residents. We cover 26 square miles (18 land miles, 8 water). We also cover Big Island which is located in Lake Minnetonka.

Two fire departments cover our service area:
Long Lake Fire Department   952-473-6961
Wayzata Fire Department   952-473-0234

Emergency Medical Services are provided by North Memorial EMS and Waconia EMS.

There are three school districts in our area:

Wayzata   763-745-5000

Criminal prosecutors for misdemeanor and some gross misdemeanor cases:

Felony prosecutions are referred to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office 612-348-5561.

Vehicles are impounded to two local services, Perry's Towing and Williams Towing.
