Person of the Year 2003
November 24, 2003
Sgt. Jay Dembouski was recognized by the Long lake
Chamber of Commerce as one of the two recipients of the Long Lake Chamber
Person of the Year at a delightful banquet at the Woodhill Country Club on
November 22, 2003. Jay's family and co-workers joined the Chamber in honoring
him during the surprise presentation of this prestigious award.
Jay joined the Orono Police Department in 1990 and has served as patrol officer, as corporal and currently as patrol sergeant. Sgt. Dembouski embraces the concept of true "community policing" and has worked tirelessly to ensure the success of community activities including Buckhorn Days and Corn Days. He is dedicated to the citizens and business people in Long Lake and has served for the past two years as Long Lake's liaison to the Orono Police Department.
Sgt. Dembouski mentors young people at the Kapani House in Long Lake, sharing his time and occasionally his Vikings tickets with them. Jay is a great inspiration to all, he is determined and always manages to remain cool under pressure.
Congratulations, Jay, on behalf the Long Lake Chamber of Commerce, your colleagues, and the citizens and business people in our area and thanks for all you do to make our community a better place to live and work!
