Orono Area Neighborhood Alert
November 3, 2003

Orono Police officers got a phone call on 10/30/03 at 7:30 p.m., that earlier in the day (about 4:50 p.m.), two children ages ten and eight saw a newer silver 4 -door model sports car pull out of the OK Kids lot on Old Crystal Bay Road and follow the bus through Long Lake. The kids notified the bus driver that the car was following them.

The children were the last to get off the bus at about 5:10 p.m. The bus turned onto Golden View Drive and let the kids off. The children reported that the sports car driver pulled into Golden View Drive, stopped, got out of his car, took a few steps toward the kids and said, "Hold on, wait, come back". The children then were scared and ran into their house and locked the door.

The children described the driver and only occupant as a white male in his twenties, six feet tall, dark brown or black hair that was greasy and parted down the middle. He was further described as wearing a blue vest over a white long-sleeve shirt with ripped up jeans shorts, a gold chain, three earrings in his right ear, one earring in his left ear, dark complexion, rugged-looking with brown eyes.

Information regarding this report and follow-up investigation is being forwarded to Officer Tony Wittke at 952-249-4700.

If suspicious activity is observed, people are urged to call 911 immediately.
