Possible Attempted Abductions
in Wright County area

On 3/4/05 at about 4:30 p.m. our office received a teletype which may be related to the previous possible attempted abduction from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office – this occurred in Hassan:

“On 3/4/05 at [3:57 p.m.] a 10 year old male got off his school bus in Hassan when a male approached in a turquoise van or SUV and said to the child, “Hey Hey, come here, are your parents home?” The child ran into his home and called 911. The driver was described as an Asian male with black short hair, mid 30’s.”

The following is information from a teletype received by law enforcement on 3/2/05 at 9:30 a.m.:

“At [7:43] this morning, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Cokato Elementary School area regarding a possible abduction attempt. Three young females were approached separately by a white male in his twenties wearing glasses and a mustache. He was driving a green or lime green colored mini van with large windows. On the front seat of the mini van should be a blue backpack. He tried to get the three juvenile females into his van. Any agency with similar contacts or see similar vehicle should contact the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.”

The Delano Elementary School put out a notice to parents based on the information from Wright County. Medina and Loretto will be notifying the private elementary schools in their area. According to the Wright County Sheriff’s office, there has been no further activity since 3/2/05 and they will let us know immediately if there is any additional information.

We received information that a green mini-van was seen driving past the Delano elementary school 3 or 4 times on 3/3/05 during the morning hours. We have not received a teletype from the agency and have been unable to confirm the information with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

At this time we have no specific information concerning our area. However, we will be providing extra patrol as a precaution.

We encourage parents, children, and teachers to practice good personal safety habits as always:
