Orono Area Neighborhood Alert: June 30, 2004
Criminal Damage to Property, Possible Assault with BB Gun

On 6/10/04, Orono Police received four reports of criminal damage to property. The reports involved subjects shooting out the windows of cars during the night.

We learned there were similar reports in Maple Plain, Mound, Minnetrista, Plymouth, Wayzata, Minnetonka, Long Lake, Excelsior and Deephaven.

On 6/15/04 at 2330 hours, Officer Wittke of the Orono Police Department took seven reports. He located witnesses who knew who was involved in these crimes and what vehicles were used.

One of the suspects was stopped by Orono P.D on a traffic violation which led to the arrest of two suspects ages 19 and 20 and the recovery of two CO2 pistols, CO2 cartridges, and a sling shot.

Orono is requesting that anyone with similar damage make a police report. We are aggregating the cases and will present them to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

Two suspects were arrested, a 19 year old man from Mound, and a 20 year old from Orono. Three men are suspected of causing the damage, our investigation is continuing.

We would like information that would identify a young person riding a bicycle and known to be hit by BBs near Co Rd 151 and Shoreline Drive.
