Youth diversion programs are offered as an alternative to court appearances, court-directed community service, or receiving citations (with fines) to first time offenders charged with a misdemeanor. These programs are intended to serve as an incentive to change behaviors toward a more successful future.
The Orono Police refer juveniles to the following organizations:
| Northern Star Juvenile Diversion 5300 Glenwood Avenue Minneapolis, MN 55422 763-231-7242 or 763-231-7243 |
This program provides a positive alternative to formal court proceedings for motivated first-time offenders. Through structured activities and community service, the program aims to reduce the recidivism rate among these youthful offenders.
